A story about the power of kindness.

Kindness can go a long way. It's easy to disregard sometimes, when we're so inundated with the idea to progress, to fulfill intellectual stimulation, or to simply be alone. Giving back to a group or community is important, and not everyone has the patience and motivation to do it. But the man in the story below does. He actually goes to shelters, picks up dogs, puts them in a backpack, and carries them around New York City to help promote them into being adopted.

There's a lot of stereotypes about shelter dogs; a lot of people think they're unwell, that they're violent or misbehave, and that they're more trouble than they're worth. They aren't adopted so much because people think they're going to bite or hurt them, but it's really not always the case. The story below is a great example of how refined shelter dogs can be. This man takes a big 70 pound black dog and puts him in his backpack. They look so happy together and bonded. They spend the day walking around the city, taking the subway places, eating ice cream together, and eventually getting him adopted. It's insane that this actually works! People adopt these little babies once they see how sweet and gentle they are. This man is doing something so wholesome and great for the world, and broadcasting it is giving him more publicity, which in turn helps with people adopting the dogs.

When I was younger, I didn't think about kindness. It wasn't a quality I had in mind or was important to me, I didn't value it. Now as an adult, it's more and more important, and I really see its value. It lies in its simplicity. It shouldn't be hard work to treat others well, and if it is then a person is rotten at their core. If you go around not being kind, then it says a lot about the person's inner world. So it's important to remember with everything you end up doing in your life.
